What the F#@* was that …what!?!

Evil Dead the Musical image

Well, anyone who knows me knows that I enjoy the odd Evil Dead movie…just a tiny bit. I think the giveaway would be the shrine to the Evil Dead Trilogy that greets you as you head downstairs to my basement and into the ‘TV Room’.

I caught wind of this show a while ago, but never made my way up to go see it. Now that I’m living in Toronto – and have friends visiting from Newfieland – my wife and I figured, why not! I’ve been dying to see it and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity.

Let me start by giving them (the show) a plug:

There we go. Now on to the juice!

I can’t remember whose idea it originally was to go see this play. I’ve been wanting to see it for quite some time, but knowing my disposition to forget events easily, I think I forgot. Sooo…more likely than not, it was my wife who suggested we go see the show when our friends were down. Giving credit where credit is due….and I’m glad she did.

I would have to say this was one of the most entertaining shows I’ve seen in a long time. Now, for all those die hard Evil Dead people out there, I wouldn’t suggest you go there looking for a word for word re-enactment of the movie. The story line is there, and there is plenty of movie jumping (from ED1 to ED2 to AOD and back again) but the inconsistencies are cleverly dealt with on most every occasion.

We were lucky enough to get into one of the first three rows dubbed ‘The Splatter Zone’. If you do go check the show out, I would strongly suggest either:

  1. Wear something that you don’t mind getting dirty, or
  2. Support the show. Buy a t-shirt at the vendor right before you go in to the play. A white T-shirt. So you can be easily
spotted by the cast members 🙂

….there is a lot of blood. That’s what I’m going to leave this at for now. I suggest highly that you go see this show if you get the chance. The acting is hoaky (in true ED and AOD fashion), the songs are cleaver, and the cast was great. Overall, a great theater experience.

I’ll leave you with a link to go see the vids that they have on their site:

Have fun and I hope you get to go see the show!
