O.K. Please, I really don’t want death threats from anyone because I’ve possibly made an offhand comment about Islam or provided material that doesn’t agree with your views.
Now that that’s out of the way….
I am completely baffled as to how Islamic logic works. Let me get all of my references out of the way first:

Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Theo van Gogh make a documentary about the abuse of Muslim women. Submission is it’s name. You can watch it here:

As soon as it is released on Dutch TV, Ayaan has to be protected by the Dutch government for fear of being murdered by Islamic fundamentalists and Theo gets murdered in the street like a dog because they’ve brought to light what happens to enslaved Muslim women!

Fast forward to today where I learned of Lars Vilks. Lars Vilks is Swedish artist who drew a caricature of the Prophet Mohammed with the body of a dog. Albeit a purposely directed religious parody towards Muslims, but he doesn’t direct his works only towards Muslims. He equally attacks every religion and has been doing it for a good 30 years now.

Do you think these images warrant a price on his head from Al Qaeda of $100K with a $50K bonus for slitting his throat like lamb? Very similar to the way Van Gogh was murdered? Also, if you watch the video of Lars Vilks, you’ll see that he’s now completely used to the death threats and the hiding he has to go to every night. How right is that. I am also appalled at the lack of police involvement with letting this Muslim mother who has publicly said that she is going to murder him and slit his throat walk around free!!!
Now check this out. You’ll see that these fucking insane Islamic fundamentalist think it’s ok to storm the Danish Embassy, set it on fire and cause the deaths and injuries over a cartoon….a fucking cartoon. Let me say it again: a cartoon.
I just don’t understand the logic. There are tons of jokes about tons of other religions leading to……nothing. Step on the toes of Islam and you get a death warrant issued and your house burned down. Vars drew a caricature – with way more detail i might add – about Jesus being a pedophile with nary a stern written letter. This was just a picture of a guy with a dog’s body. WoW.
I guess I can see the direct correlation between the evolution of this religion and the growth of the Christian/Catholic religions (burning of witches, blah, blah, blah)…if I had to rationalize it in any way. But I have to believe that out there, somewhere, there are some rational Islamic believers that think this isn’t the right course of action. I believe that the rational amount of believers have to far outweigh the fundamentalists and that they should somehow be able to tell the maniacs that it’s not right to slaughter people and burn down buildings because someone drew an offhanded cartoon about your religious leader! I guess only time will tell. I hope that someone realizes that this does their cause no good and trivializes their religion to the point that now all who practice the Islamic faith can be thought of as barbaric psychopaths whose first reaction to something would be to slit your throat.
